Thai police arrested a French fugitive on the Tropical Holiday Island in Phuket about a deadly prison eruption which released a notorious drug lord Nicknamed “The Fly”.

Thai authorities said they had followed Correa in the Kamala and Patong de Phuket regions and arrested him on Wednesday.
His lawyer in France, Joseph Hazan, told AFP on Thursday that his client had gone.
“He presented himself to the Thai authorities, with whom we have been in contact for several days,” said Hazan, adding that his client had not yet made a declaration and “would be explained to the French judges”.
Thai officials have canceled the Correa visa and he is now detained in Bangkok while his expulsion in France is organized.
Thailand and France do not have an extradition treaty, but sources have told AFP that they expect Correa to be returned next week.

Amra has a long history of convictions for violent crimes that started at the age of 15, according to legal sources.
“He is very well known to the judiciary,” said the chief prosecutor of Paris, Laure Beccuau.
Amra has close links with organized crime, said another source close to the case that has asked not to be identified and is suspected of commanding drug trade.

However, none of his 13 previous convictions – for crimes ranging from an extortion armed robbery – was directly linked to the narcotics, said Beccuau.
He was imprisoned in January 2022 in Evreux prison in the northwest region of Normandy to serve several sentences, notably for the criminal plot, extortion, theft, armed violence and participation in an illegal engine rodeo.
At the time of his escape, he also faced two new accusations, one for attempted murder and another for having participated in a murder of Gangland in the southern city of Marseille on the French Riviera, a center for drug trafficking and gang violence.
