Tens of thousands of Southern Californians were ordered to flee their homes Tuesday after a brush fire exploded in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Fueled by powerful Santa Ana winds and dry conditions, the Palisades Fire started as a brush fire Tuesday morning and had grown to nearly 3,000 acres by Tuesday evening.
Dramatic images showed columns of smoke towering over the coastal district. Flames could be seen advancing and people were captured fleeing the area on foot.
