Five Things to Watch Out for This Season in the NFL

The end of the summer means just one thing for millions of football fans around the world. The NFL is back. The 2022 season is about to get underway and once again we will all be glued to the action to see who will come out on top at Super Bowl LVII.

Many people will be making their selections about who might go all the way next February – or even picking out their NFL prop bets. But we’ve put together this list of five things we think might happen this season. There is no guarantee in football, of course. But check back at the end of the season to see if we got these predictions right.

Buying Success the Rams Way

The NFL is one of the most evenly balanced sports leagues in the world thanks to its parity-inducing draft system. Even if your team has the worst year ever, it could come back soon thanks to being able to pick up the best prospects just months later. But the LA Rams changed all that last year.

Rather than waiting for draft picks to gain the experience needed to lead the team to glory, the Rams cherry-picked some of the best players in the league in a bid to win the Super Bowl. That philosophy worked and now the Rams will go years without a number one pick. There are now others – like the Broncos – willing to try that route.

Chiefs to Struggle

Patrick Mahomes looked as though he had only just started something when he led the Kansas Chiefs to Super Bowl glory in 2020. A dynasty was predicted, with pundits questioning whether he would end up with more rings than Tom Brady. It hasn’t quite gone as planned.

The Chiefs did make it back to the big game once – but lost. Now ace in the hole, Tyreek Hill has departed for Miami and there is no guarantee that Kansas City will even win its division. This is still a very good team, of course. But this could be another struggle of a season for a team originally expected to win more championships.

The Jets to Shine

It seems as though there has been a private duel between the Jets and the Giants in recent years to become not only the worst football team in New York – but in the entire league. There has been little to celebrate for either organization for quite a while. But the Jets are now stirring from that deep sleep.

New players have been added to the roster and the NFL Draft has been a success. The AFC East divisional title still looks like being beyond New York’s reach. But the Jets will not be too far behind the Bills, Pats and Dolphins. There might even be a winning record for the first time in a long time.

Aaron Rodgers to Have a Big Year

Aaron Rodgers may not have won a Super Bowl since 2010. But he has gotten used to winning MVP awards. Green Bay took on Jordan Love a few seasons ago and everyone thought that Rodgers would be leaving the organization. That didn’t happen and now Green Bay is being talked about in Super Bowl conversations.

We are not saying that Rodgers should be sizing up for a ring quite yet. But with a place in the postseason almost guaranteed, all the Packers need to do is really turn it on in the playoffs. The departure of Davante Adams is a huge blow – but Aaron Rodgers could well be in for a stellar year.

Buffalo to Reach the Super Bowl

We thought we would finish off with one of the more predicted predictions about the upcoming season. The Bills are the favorites to end a lifetime of hurt and finally win a Super Bowl. We are not getting carried away though – we are just saying that Buffalo could be on show in Glendale, Arizona in February 2023.
