Five-star receiver Derek Meadows pushes back commitment date

LAS VEGAS — The race for the five-star receiver Derek Meadows has tightened and the elite playmaker has chosen to push back his commitment date.

With the finalists Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana State University, Michigan And our Lady In pursuit, the Top247 prospect from powerhouse Bishop Gorman is now set to reveal his college choice on July 20 at 3 p.m. ET / noon PT via the 247Sports YouTube ChannelHe was originally scheduled to start this Saturday, but decided to delay the big moment by another week.

Meadows is the No. 32 of the best hopes, #6 wide receiver And #1 player in Nevada for the 2025 class, according to 247Sports rankings.

It’s been a busy period on the official visit front for the ultra-athletic Meadows, with stops at Michigan (May 31), Georgia (June 7), Notre Dame (June 14), LSU (June 18) and Alabama (June 21) among a packed schedule.

“I’m looking at a lot of things with these schools,” Meadows recently told 247Sports, “but I know they have to have a great quarterback to throw the ball, they have to have a great education and great leaders. Overall, I find the best fit for me and my future.”

The standout wide receiver and Gatorade Track and Field Player of the Year topped 20 offers during the evaluation period and quickly rocketed up college staff rankings. The 6-foot-6, 200-pound Meadows clocked 36.73 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles.

In 10 games as a junior last season, Meadows had 15 receptions for 391 yards and eight touchdowns. A tall, lanky prospect with a wide receiving radius, Meadows has as much physical potential as any prospect in the West this cycle.

247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins has seen Meadows in person a few times this offseason and is very confident in his potential to make an impact at the next level and beyond.

“Meadows is a giant receiver and one of the most intriguing players in the 2025 class,” Biggins wrote in the scouting report. “He has a rare combination of size, athleticism and body control and is just scratching the surface of what we think he can be good at. With an 80-inch wingspan, he’s a nightmare for smaller defensive backs and should be an immediate threat in the red zone. He was the Gatorade Track and Field Athlete of the Year and is one of the best hurdlers in the area. He has a big frame and it wouldn’t shock us if he developed into a pass-catching tight end who would be deadly against linebackers and safeties in the middle of the field.”

Stay tuned to 247Sports for breaking news, insights and analysis as prospects from every class continue to sort through their top suitors during this summer’s busy recruiting period.
