First Descendant Developer Offers Fix for Frame Rate Drops: Delete and Reinstall the Game

The First Descendant’s rocky launch continues, with players reporting significant framerate drops on PC and console.

Nexon’s free-to-play shooter launched strong this week with a high concurrent player count on Steam, but user reviews are “mixed” in response to what some are calling “microtransaction hell” as well as various performance and reward issues. Check out IGN’s ongoing The First Descendant review to find out what we think of the game so far.

The main performance issue is frame rate drops across all platforms, which for an action game can cause gameplay issues. Nexon has acknowledged this issue and suggested a workaround.

The developer attributes these frame rate issues to those who pre-downloaded The First Descendant, and suggests that if you encounter this issue, you delete the game and reinstall it “as a temporary solution.” In the meantime, Nexon has said it is investigating further.

Players are reporting mixed results using this temporary fix, with some claiming it helps improve frame rates on PC, but those on console still seem to be having issues.

This isn’t the only issue plaguing The First Descendant right now. Nexon has offered players compensation for launch issues that saw promised rewards not arrive. Some players are also saying they haven’t received the premium currency they paid real money for.

According to Nexon, here’s a list of all the current issues in The First Descendant that the developer is working to fix:
