On Saturday, a new tour at the Fairhaven Memorial Park & ​​Mortary of Santa Ana will honor the local women who challenged the chances.

The “Women in History” event of March 8, during the International Women’s Day, will offer visits to golf carts from different tombs around the cemetery. Participants will have the opportunity to discover these female pioneers – like Clara Cushman, the first woman lawyer of the County of Orange – who are all buried in Fairhaven Memorial.

The tour invites visitors to explore the lives and inheritances of these women buried in the cemetery and to “be immersed in the inspiring stories of ferocious leaders, visionary artists, revolutionary activists and influential pioneers who challenged the ratings and changed the course of history,” said the organizers.

Among the people presented in the tour of Saturday, let us quote Cornelia “Corrie” ten boom of “The Hiding Place” Cornelia “Corrie”; Aviator Bessica “Bessie” Rache, which made the first solo flight accredited by a woman in the United States; And the first assistant woman of the Department of Sheriff of Orange County, Dorothy Alice Chandler.

“We are always trying to think of ways to bring the community to the Fairhaven Memorial because there is so many history,” said organizer Cynthia Adair. “I want people to know that these women are really historic, on the ground, they were the first to do something. Free visits to 45 -minute golf trolleys around the cemetery start every hour at 10 a.m., with the last departure at noon on Saturday March 8. Participants can meet in the Fairhaven Memorial hall, 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, in Santa Ana.
