The FIA tries to prevent a repetition of the fires of the grass that derailed the second practice at the Japanese Grand Prix of Formula 1.
Friday’s session was launched in disarray by four red flags, two for Jack Doohan and Fernando Alonso and two others for lawn patches lined up on the Suzuka track.
The dry grass approaching Tour 8 caught fire for the first time with 13 minutes to run and was quickly extinguished by the marshals of Suzuka.
In the moving seconds, the grass was again on fire, this time much more spectacular and it reduced the final thrust towers for many drivers.
FIA is still studying the cause of incidents, but so far, the most plausible explanation is only sparks that come out of the skipping blocks in titanium.
The director organ announced that he was taking preventive measures to avoid a rehearsal on Saturday for final training and qualifications, some patches being watered and the dry sections removed.

“While we continue to examine the fires that occurred during the FP2, our goal before tomorrow will be to take preventive measures,” said a FIA declaration.
“The grass was cut as short as possible, and the loose dried grass has been removed from the affected areas.
A similar incident occurred during the Chinese Grand Prix last year, when the Shanghai training session was interrupted for two separate lawn fires and the FIA took similar measures at the time.
