Ferrari extends Fred Vasseur’s contract as a boss of the F1 team

Ferrari has renewed his contract with the boss of the Formula 1 team, Fred Vasseur, ending speculations on the future of French.

Vasseur joined Sauber before the 2023 season to replace Mattia Binotto and implemented a change of changes behind the scenes to bring the Prancing horse to the F1 top.

Ferrari finished second in the 2024 manufacturers’ championship, but has since stagnated, with the reigning champions McLaren who have stored towards the crown 2025.

This led to speculation of the Italian media that Vasseur would leave at the end of his initial contract, which was to expire this year, in the midst of the alleged interest of the senior management of Ferrari to Christian Horner.

But Ferrari has now drawn a line under future doubts by re-signing Vasseur to new terms in what should be another multi-year agreement.

“I am grateful to the trust that Ferrari continues to place me in me,” said Vasseur. “This renewal is not only a confirmation – it is a challenge to continue to progress, to remain concentrated and to deliver.

“In the past 30 months, we have laid solid foundations, and now we have to rely on them with consistency and determination. We know what is expected, and we are all fully determined to meet these expectations and take the next step forward together.”

This news was in front of the vast F1 regulatory changes next year, which Ferrari will enter with Charles Leclerc and seven times world champion Lewis Hamilton as a driver.

Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna said: “Fred joined the Scuderia at the beginning of 2023, bringing with him a large experience of motorsport and a proven capacity to develop talents and to constitute competitive teams at all levels of racing.

“Since then, he threw a solid base with the ambition to return Ferrari at the top of Formula 1.”
