Mayor of Boston on Fenway Park concert cancellations
“We always want to make sure that we take measures to prevent as much as possible everything that could happen in terms of injury or things like that. I understand that it was a security problem, it was the call of the organizers in this case, Live Nation, when they looked at the elements on stage,” the mayor of Boston told journalists on Friday.
Wu apologized to the fans who came from around the world, saying: “In this case, the organizers have decided to do so and we always support security first. Even for the city, it is also an economic activity and to see so many happy fans and to welcome people in Boston.
“Respect their decision”
Asked about the role of the inspection services to decide to cancel the concerts, Wu explained that they are not necessary before the “very, very fine”.
“It is complicated because there are different elements of the scene, there will be some who are more aerial, some who are on the ground, we focus on the kind of physical structures that are always there, the scene itself, it was not the call of the SDD because it was not the problem here, so it was an organizer and we always respect their decision to do what they wanted to do to put the mayor.
The next concert at Fenway Park is Hozier on June 23 and 24. Thomas Rhett, the Jonas Brothers and The Who should also play Fenway later this summer.
There is no word yet on reprogrammed dates in Fenway for Shakira or Jason Aldean.
