Felony kidnapping suspect arrested after pursuit from Fairfield to Rio Vista
A man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of felony kidnapping and other related charges following a domestic violence incident that began in a Fairfield park but led law enforcement to embark on a chase to Rio Vista.
According to Rio Vista Police Department officials, their dispatch center was notified shortly after noon on March 28 that a suspect in a domestic violence incident was last seen heading toward town on State Route 12.
“The suspect allegedly assaulted a woman in a Fairfield park before pulling her into a car and fleeing at high speed,” said a statement released by Rio Vista police. “Fairfield police officers chased the suspect, who dangerously fled from pursuing officers.”
At that time, Rio Vista police said additional calls were reported regarding a car on State Route 12 that matched the description of the suspect’s vehicle, driving recklessly near State Route 12 and the State Route 113.
Authorities say officers set up at possible entry points from the west and intercepted the vehicle as it arrived in town.
“Units converged on the suspect vehicle, stopping it in front of St. Joseph Cemetery,” the statement read. “The suspect surrendered without incident, and a woman and a 2-year-old child were released from the suspect.”
Dajon Daniel, 25, was arrested by Fairfield officers on suspicion of felony kidnapping, child endangerment, battery and escape with willful disregard of safety, and booked into the county jail Solano County. Bail was set at $75,000.
Rio Vista firefighters also responded to the incident, officials said, and treated the woman and a 2-year-old child. They also treated Daniel for an injury he allegedly suffered before being arrested by police before being taken to prison.
