At least three people were killed and seven injured in an Israeli air strike on the southern suburbs of Beirut early on Tuesday, the Lebanese health ministry, testing a four-month-old ceasefire trembling between Israel and Hezbollah, said more.
The FDI said on Tuesday in a statement that he attacked a Hezbollah terrorist “who had recently directed Hamas agents and helped them.”
The attack took place a few days after a previous strike from Israel in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, a hezbollah bastion known as Dahiyeh.
There was no immediate declaration of Hezbollah on the identity of the target.
Lebanese president Joseph Aoun condemned the last Israeli air strike, calling it “dangerous warning” which reports premeditated intentions against Lebanon.
Aoun said that the growing “assault” of Israel forces Lebanon to intensify diplomatic awareness and to mobilize international allies to support full sovereignty of the country.
Hit a damaged building in the suburbs of the Lebanese capital
The strike seemed to have damaged the three upper floors of a building in the southern suburbs of Beirut, a journalist from Reuters on the scene said, the balconies of these blown stages. The glass on the floors below was intact, indicating a target strike. The ambulances were on the scene to recover victims.
No evacuation warning was issued for the area before the strike, and families fled after other parts of Beirut, according to witnesses.
The cease-fire agreement interrupted the one-year conflict and demanded that southern Lebanon be free from the combatants and weapons of Hezbollah, that Lebanese troops are deployed in the region, and that Israeli land troops withdrew from the area. But each party accuses the other of not being entirely up to these terms.
However, the truce at the United States stop has looked more and more fragile in recent times. Israel delayed a promised withdrawal of troops in January and said that he had intercepted rockets from Lebanon in March, which led him to bomb targets in the southern suburbs of Beirut and southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah aligned by Iran has denied any involvement in layoffs.
The US State Department said on Tuesday that Israel was defending itself against rocket attacks from Lebanon and that Washington blamed the “terrorists” for the resumption of hostilities.
“Hostilities have resumed because the terrorists have launched rockets in Israel from Lebanon,” said a spokesperson for the State Department in an email, adding that Washington supported Israel’s response.
The Israel-Hezbollah conflict, in which thousands of people were killed, was ignited by the Gaza War in 2023 when Hezbollah began to pull roquettes in Israel to support its Hamas ally.
The Gaza War, in which the Palestinian health authorities say that more than 50,000 people were killed, was launched when Hamas terrorists attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200 people and taking around 250 hostages.
