Father who forced son to use treadmill found guilty of boy’s death

(Warning: Potentially Triggering Content)

Corey Micciolo finally gets some justice.

In case you haven’t been following this case, in 2021, the 6-year-old little boy died inexplicably – but soon after, a horrific video told the world his story. In disturbing CCTV footage, Corey could be seen working out on a treadmill at Atlantic Heights Clubhouse in New Jersey. In the video, the child’s father can be seen approaching the machine and spinning it at increasingly high speeds. As the child tries to keep up with the faster pace, he falls several times, but each time his father throws him right back onto the machine. At one point, he even appears to bite the little one on the head. So sickening.

Days after this incident in March 2021, Corey was taken to the doctor where he told doctors he was forced to run on the treadmill because he was “too fat,” according to legal documents obtained from the era by New York Post. He was sent home, but it wasn’t over. A day later, he suffered worrying symptoms after a nap – including stumbling, slurred speech, nausea and difficulty breathing – and was rushed to the emergency room.

Unfortunately, during a scan, Corey had a seizure and died. In July, the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled that he died from “sustained injuries due to blunt force trauma.” A year after the boy’s death in March 2022, his father was arrested.

In recent weeks Christophe Gregor was put on trial for the boy’s death, with witnesses denouncing the child’s mistreatment. And on Friday, after two grueling years for the heartbroken family, Gregor was found guilty of manslaughter in connection with his son’s death, as reported by multiple media outlets. Apart from Ocean County Superior Courtlittle boy’s mother Breanna Micciolo expressed his relief to USA today:

“We are satisfied with the verdict and we thank the prosecution. He deserves to be in prison. He is a very bad man.

Meanwhile, the prosecutor Bradley Billhimer was also happy to finally be able to help bring justice to Corey’s family:

“Finally, justice for Corey has been served. Christopher Gregor must live the rest of his life knowing that he, and he alone, is responsible for the death of his one and only son. While nothing can bring this precious child back to his family, we hope that today’s jury verdict provides some semblance of peace and closure to those who knew and loved Corey.

Gregor’s lawyer said his client was “not surprised” by the verdict in the case – but was considering an appeal. His official sentencing is scheduled for August 2 and he faces up to 40 years in prison.

Such a heartbreaking and senseless death. It’s great to hear that Corey is finally getting the justice he deserves, poor kid. We hope this verdict can bring some peace to the family.
