A man from Virginia who tried to walk home in a snowstorm last Monday after crashing his car was found dead three days later, according to a report.

The body of Jacob Whaley, 34, was discovered Thursday by a search team about 200 yards from the spot in Louisa where his family told authorities he may have been after his first disappearance, reported WRIC.

Whaley was trying to walk the six mile distance to his home in wintry conditions, the report said.

When he stopped responding and never made it home, his relatives alerted the sheriff’s office and reported that Whaley could have been near Greene’s Corner Road.

MPs responded to the site, but initially did not find it.

Whaley’s relatives said police should have found him alive.

“I am so angry with this county,” Whaley’s mother Shannon Whaley told the outlet.

“All they had to do was come out and scream for him.”

The man’s sister, Angela Whaley, added: “Louisa County left him to freeze to death.”

The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office released a statement mourning Whaley’s death.

“Our sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of Mr. Jacob Whaley,” the office said.

“Missing persons cases are always a top priority for the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office and we share their grief and grief.”
