Fatal dirt bike crash: Suspect arrested after teenage skateboarder hit, killed in North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A 19-year-old suspect has been arrested for allegedly punching and killing a teenage skateboarder in North Philadelphia, in a hit-and-run accident caught on surveillance video.

This suspect has been identified as Kevin Rubio of the 3200 block of N. Hancock Street.

The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. on May 15 on Allegheny Avenue near Front Street.

Police said Rubio was speeding and wheeling when he hit Rosario, who was riding a skateboard.

Investigators say that immediately after the crash, Rubio sped off on a green dirt bike.

Through surveillance video, witnesses and anonymous information, detectives say they were led to Rubio, who turned himself in to police.

Rubio was charged with vehicular homicide, reckless endangerment, manslaughter and fleeing the scene of an accident.
