Fans have taken to social media to mock Jadon Sancho for putting on a German accent during a recent interview.

Sancho joined Borussia Dortmund on loan until the end of the season in January, following a public row with United boss Erik ten Hag.

Sancho – who scored 50 goals in 137 appearances for Dortmund between 2017 and 2021 – appeared in a social video for the club earlier this week.

During the social media clip – shared on TikTok, Twitter and Instagram – Sancho was asked: “Who has been your toughest opponent in football?”

Sancho clarified the matter before naming Manchester City defender and England international Kyle Walker as his toughest opponent.

However, it wasn’t his response that piqued fans’ interest. That was his emphasis when he said Walker’s name.

Sancho – who played 11 times in the Bundesliga, scoring one goal and registering one assist – took on a German accent.

Fans were quick to react to the 24-year-old’s accent and took to the comments section to discuss his new dialect.

One fan wrote: “What is that accent?? ”, while another added: “Why is my brother talking like that – he needs to stop this now!” “.

A football fan tried to link the winger’s German accent to his disciplinary problems at Manchester United.

They wrote: “The man thinks he is a German with a questionable accent. what joke. Ten Hag should keep him away. spoiled child in the locker room.”

While one fan said: “I was making fun of Sancho but the accent happens without realizing it’s really crazy, I do the same thing at work.”

Another fan agreed, saying: “We all do this thing with the accent, let’s not place it.” He’s just making sure he’s understood lol.’

A third fan added: “I don’t think people understand that when you talk to strangers abroad in your usual style/accent they have a hard time understanding so you speak differently so they understand. ”

While one social media user finished by saying: “It’s not that deep, it just makes it easier for people to understand.” Most bilingual people understand.

Dortmund are reportedly willing to re-sign Jadon Sancho on a permanent deal, but only if United accept less than half of the £73million they shelled out for him in 2021.

Further talks are expected in the coming weeks, with Sancho ‘happy’ and ‘feeling the confidence’ from the Bundesliga side.

However, changes within United’s structure could impact whether the England international stays or leaves at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag’s future at the club is uncertain, and it is unclear how new owners Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS plan to deal with him.
