Viewers of Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final between Coventry were furious after VAR ruled Coventry’s last-minute extra-time goal was slightly offside.

Coventry almost completed one of the most memorable comebacks of all time as their side came back from 3-0 down to take the draw at Wembley into extra time.

The Championship side then thought they had won when Victor Torp volleyed the ball home in the 121st minute.

However, the celebrations were short-lived as VAR intervened and deemed Haji Wright to be slightly offside in the build-up.

And fans couldn’t believe that such a moment was taken away by such fine margins.

Victor Torp thought he had scored the winner for Coventry against United in the 121st minute.

One wrote on X: “That’s not football. VAR ruined one of the biggest moments of the FA Cup. A total offside. Leave me alone. Coventry should be in the final. Completely pathetic.

Another wrote: “VAR kills all the joy in sport. Coventry were deprived of one of the greatest moments in their history because Wright’s nail was offside.

Speaking after the match, Coventry boss Mark Robins said: “Bitterly disappointed, I’m also proud.

“Someone told me, I don’t think any team has been this close to a final without making it. We deserved to qualify, we were 20 seconds away and one offside nail, that’s it. is ridiculous.
