NRL fans are in arms on the spectacular increase in sets of sets this season, with furious supporters calling for the controversial rule.
The first four laps of the 2025 season have seen an increase in calls of six years, the average per match going from 4.7 last year to 6.
During the first four laps, it led to an amazing restart of 192, leaving the fans and coaches smoking.
The highest increase came from Ruck’s offenses, which increased by 30% compared to last season.
The problem is particularly bad in the 20 -meter zone of the defense team, where the offenses almost doubled from 30 in 2024 to 59 this year.
The off-game penalties in this area have also increased, from 17 to 25, which means that the teams now deliberately conceded rehearsal sets near their own test line in order to disrupt the start of the momentum.
Furious fans have criticized the LNR six -year -old rule while Ruck’s violations hover over the opening rounds
Set restarts exploded to 192 in four laps, arousing indignation among the coaches and supporters of the LNR
Indignant fans have brought social media to evacuate their frustration, demanding changes to a rule that they claim to ruin sport.
“Watching the LNR after two Super League games, and the Difference of Ruck’s offense is night and day,” said a fan.
“We need refs to be stricter and give more offside and ruck penalties. The game game is so much cleaner and better on the eye! I prefer to see more penalties than the waste we have.
Others criticized the rule.
“Ruck’s offenses ruin the game,” said a fan, while another said: “The six -year -old rule is the stupid, the worst thing ever brought to the rugby league. He ruined the last World Cup and destroyed so many games.
Many supporters believe that the referees use six agents to manipulate the flow of matches.
“The six -year rule is the way they control the games and the momentum of the teams,” wrote a frustrated fan.
“They did it via the second referee. The game formerly known as Rugby League has become boring and predictable under V’landys.
Ruck offenses increased by 30%, with deliberate penalties near the exasperating test lines
Canberra’s raid coach Ricky Stuart previously added fuel to the fire, exploding and calling inconsistencies in the way the defined restarts are awarded.
“I see six years who go against my poor buggers, I see these plated every week by certain teams, and nothing is done,” Stuart has been flowing after the raiders lost against Manly.
The veteran coach underlined the statistics where Canberra was affected with 10 penalties against four for their opponents. Worse still, the raiders cut six infractions to Ruck, while Manly was only a ping-ping once.
The LNR bosses refused to retreat, insisting that the rule is there to stay.
The officials say that the call at six years is designed to accelerate the game and encourage attack rugby, but the criticisms argue that it does exactly the opposite, with teams now tactically conceding penalties to slow down opposition attacks.
Bulldogs’ boss, Phil Gould, also criticized the six -year -old rule, warning that he disrupts the natural rhythm of the game and leaves the players and frustrated fans.
But not everyone agrees. Former player and commentator Matty Johns supported the rule, arguing that the teams must simply be better disciplined in the ruck.
He insists that the six -year rule obliges teams to assume responsibility for their defensive structures and makes the game more equitable.
