Family of women found inside Van in San Diego Tow Yard Sues City, Police

The family of a woman found dead inside her vehicle, who was towed to a share of San Diego submission after being injured in an accident, filed a complaint this week against the city of San Diego and her police service, among others.

The parked van of Monica Liliana Cameroni of Adams was struck on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard by a driver in disregarding just after 1 am on November 5, 2023, but it was only a month later, on December 6, when her decomposition body was discovered in the Touring Court.

The complaint filed in front of the San Diego Superior Court alleged Cameroni of Adams, 65, suffered “severe, but survivable” injuries, but the police who responded and the towing employees did not look inside his van and rather took him to the towing courtyard, leaving it “trapped and hampered inside his vehicle”.

His family submitted a report on people who have disappeared shortly after responding to the birthday wishes they sent it on November 13, according to the trial.

In a complaint, his family filed with the city last month – generally a precursor of legal action – a worker from the towing court noticed an odor from the mini -duties and contacted the police.

Cameroni de Adams was found “under various articles in the row of the vehicle’s middle”, according to the medical examiner’s report.

The cause of death was judged as injuries by multiple blunt force – it was found with rib fractures and a fracture of the spine – and the medical examiner ruled on the mode of death a accident.

According to the trial, it was not until October 2024 that the family received the report from the medical examiner concerning the death of Cameroni of Adams and learned that the police or towing employees “were involved in the death of Ms. Cameroni of Adams”.

The complaint alleges the police and Tow employees neglected the transport of his vehicle without examining the interior, and Lopez is accused of negligently driving his vehicle. Police are also accused of not having properly trained their employees and negligent hires, supervision and retention.

The driver in disregard, Jordan Maximilian Lopez, is also appointed defendant in the trial. He was criminally charged, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to probation for a six -year suspended sentence of six years earlier this year.

The writer Christian Martinez contributed to this report.
