Family of Bondi stabbing victim Ashlee Good breaks their silence – and provides an update on the little girl who was stabbed

The family of Ashlee Good, 38, released a statement on Sunday after the mother was fatally stabbed in Bondi Junction on Saturday.

“Today we are in shock at the terrible loss of Ashlee, a magnificent mother, daughter, sister, partner, friend, exceptional human and so much more,” it read.

“We appreciate the well-wishes and thoughts of members of the Australian public who have expressed an outpouring of love for Ashlee and our little girl.”

Ms Good’s nine-month-old baby girl was also stabbed and remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

“We are very grateful for the expert care and attention of the medical team at Sydney Children’s Hospital,” the statement said.

“We would also like to thank the NSW Police for their kindness and diligence in dealing with this tragedy, and the emergency services for getting our baby the care she needed as quickly as possible.”

“To the two men who held and cared for our baby when Ashlee couldn’t, words cannot express our gratitude.”

The family’s statement comes after details were revealed about what happened around the time Dr Good and her baby were attacked.

The dying mother threw her injured baby into the arms of two strangers and selflessly begged them to help her.

The hero who took the baby was identified on Nine News shortly after the tragedy.

“The baby was stabbed and, yes, the mother was stabbed,” he said. “The mother came with the baby and threw it to me.

The man said he used clothing from a store to try to stem the baby’s bleeding.

“I just helped by holding the baby…and trying to compress it.”

The two brothers stayed with the mother while waiting for help.

“(It was) very bad… there was a lot of blood on the floor… I hope the baby is okay,” the other brother said.

Police are present in large numbers at the scene and the Australian Federal Police are now liaising with New South Wales Police.

Another witness, a shopping center employee, remembers seeing a mother screaming on the upper floor.

“I see a mother and maybe her partner with a baby in a pram,” she told Nine News.

“She screams really loud. She runs back and forth not knowing what to do.

“Then she comes back to the pram and picks up her baby and there’s blood all over her back.”

“The scream was unforgettable, it was the scariest thing I had ever seen.

“My colleague took me, we locked all the doors, had to turn off all the lights and all the doors.”

Heartbreaking footage from the scene showed the baby being taken away in an ambulance.

Just 12 weeks after the birth of her baby girl, Dr Good posted a heartfelt message on social media about being a mother.

“It’s almost too hard to put into words,” she posted.

‘Love. Joy. Fears. The new World. The new me; one that I am still discovering as I enter the maternity ward and finish what we call the fourth trimester.

“It’s like your heart is swelling with love while facing anxiety for the first time.

“I feel so proud, then so overwhelmed. The dichotomy of it all.

“Pure joy and extraordinary exhaustion mixed with emotions you’ve never felt before.”

She went on to say that being a parent is “the greatest gift anyone can ever receive.”

She added: “Sitting here, so deeply grateful, and still pinching myself, she is ours.

‘I love him so much.’
