Family devastated after crossbow attack – John Hunt

The BBC’s John Hunt and his daughter Amy say their devastation “cannot be expressed in words” after a crossbow attack killed three members of their family.

Racing commentator Mr Hunt, along with his other daughter Amy, issued a statement saying the devastation they were suffering “could not be described in words”.

“We would like to thank people for their kind messages and for the support we have received in recent days,” they added.

“They brought us great comfort and we are very grateful.”

They added that they would need space to accept what had happened and “begin the grieving process.”

“While all of this is happening, we ask that you respect our privacy and that of our family and relationships. Thank you.”

On Thursday, police said a crossbow had been recovered as the investigation continued.

Tributes were placed throughout the week in the region in memory of the victims.

A vigil was held at St James’ Church on Thursday, with more than 50 people attending and paying their respects.
