Incline village, nev. – A 7-year-old girl was killed by a rock fall in a popular mountain in Lake Tahoe during the weekend, the authorities and the Nevada Resort said.
The emergency teams responded to a “non-ski accident involving a child” in Diamond Peak on Saturday afternoon on Saturday afternoon, the complex said in a statement.
The girl climbed on a hill near the basic lodge when “a large rock was dislodged with the slope and struck the child,” said the press release.
The office of the regional medical examiner of the county of Washoe identified it as Adelyn Grimes, 7, of Reno.
“We would like to exercise our sincere condolences to the family of the child involved,” said the complex.
The Washoe County Sheriff said that he was investigating, but no unfair game was involved.
Diamond Peak is around 30 miles south of Reno on the northeast edge of Lake Tahoe.
