When speaking specifically about Cousins and his future in Atlanta, Blank was noncommittal.
“Kirk, we’ll see what happens with him in the future,” Blank said.
He added that he respects Cousins, especially because of how he handled professionally the last two seasons with the Falcons.
“(Cousins) has really been a great leader for us, I would say, over the last couple of years,” Blank said. “Both he was playing a supporting role to Michael last year and then this year a supporting role to Michael and he stepped up and played at a very competitive level for us as well.”
As for how things move forward in Atlanta from here, the Falcons have some leadership decisions to make before truly embarking on a quarterback plan. They are set to interview the president of football, with Blank confirming that a decision on that position will be made soon in order to have someone in place to lead the search and interviews for the organization’s next head coach and general manager.
With those three in place, decisions at the quarterback position should be at the very top of their to-do list in the 2026 offseason.
