When President Trump extended his scope in New York affairs with a promise to “kill” the state pricing plan, Governor Kathy Hochul pulled his sword.
“We are not subject to a king or someone else from Washington,” said Hochul, a democrat, to journalists, promising to preserve the program.
The aggressive position was in contradiction with the usual deliberative approach of Ms. Hochul, but it also seemed to succeed: two months later, the picking program cameras remain.
Thus, when the Trump administration said Thursday that it would take control of one of the most important and most complicated infrastructure projects of the State, Penn Station, some were surprised that Ms. Hochul seemed to respond not by challenge but with a kind of clever gratitude.
“I would like to thank the president and secretary Duffy for having assured the sole responsibility of delivering the beautiful new 7 billion dollars station that New Yorkers deserve,” said his declaration, referring to the Secretary of Transport, Sean Duffy. She suggested that this decision was a “major victory for New Yorkers”, in part because it said that the state would no longer contribute to $ 1.3 billion before to the project.
It remains to be seen how the approach of Ms. Hochul, who called to the mind of the former lecturer of the Chamber, Nancy Pelosi, applauding on the speech on the state of the Union of Mr. Trump in 2019, will take place for Ms. Hochul and the inhabitants of New York.
