‘F*** Errol’ – Ryan Garcia rips into Errol Spence over ‘split with trainer Derrick James’ after Terence Crawford fight
Ryan Garcia claims Errol Spence parted ways with longtime trainer Derrick James following his loss to Terence Crawford.
Spence was vastly outclassed by “Bud” last year when they clashed for undisputed supremacy at welterweight.
After being beaten from pillar to post by Crawford, Spence was finally stopped on his feet in the ninth round as James watched from his corner.
In the weeks following the loss, rumors began circulating online that Spence had fired James and was looking for a new head coach.
“King Ry,” who is preparing for his upcoming showdown with Devin Haney under James’ leadership, says that’s the case.
“Damn Errol!” Yeah, f*** Errol,” Garcia said on X-space yesterday.
“You’re not with Derrick James, you fucking ****. You went to bed, you didn’t want to pay him any money.
“It’s bullshit. It’s just business, but still, at the end of the day, it’s bullshit.
“Damn, I’m paying him more for a fight I did less of. Come on. He’s been with you your whole career. What’s wrong with you?”
It’s unclear exactly what Garcia is referring to and there has yet to be an official announcement from Spence or James to confirm that they have split.
Asked about “The Truth”‘s latest outing against Crawford, Garcia said he looked “high like that” going into the fight and insisted he “couldn’t even formulate a sentence”.
Spence was expected to resume his fight with Crawford this year after activating the two-way rematch clause in their contract.
However, renowned boxing journalist Dan Rafael reported in February that the fight was unlikely to take place for a variety of reasons, including Spence having to stay on the sidelines for a long time after undergoing cataract surgery.
Crawford and Spence are now campaigning for a fight against new WBC and WBO super welterweight champion Sebastian Fundora.
But it appears neither man will be able to secure that fight anytime soon, as a second fight between Fundora and Tim Tszyu is reportedly scheduled for November in Las Vegas.
