A furious Niclas Fullkrug launched a scathing attack on his teammates when he accused West Ham of having a “ mentality problem ” after conceding a late equalizer against the lower side of Southampton.

It was difficult to bring the boys back to push. We no longer pushed. We tried, but we did not have the capacity or the motivation to push again.
“I am very, very angry that we played like that because we had a few minutes when we showed what we can do against an opponent like that at home. We have shown that we can have a good possession, that we can enter behind and that we are likely to score again. But the motivation, sorry, we were s ***. I am very angry.
Fullkrug set up Bowen for the opening of West Ham two minutes after the start of the second half after the hosts were cut from the field by their fans at the break, then excluded a goal for a fault on Aaron Ramsdale just after the hour.

“This is not the first time that we have been working on a goal and the next thing, we are just shooting on the ball. We are no longer trying to play football. We no longer push. We just flow. And that’s not how we want to play.
“We can play 65 minutes before with possession, even if it is not perfect, but we try to play. We try to create chances, we try to score, then we score a goal, and after that, half the team tried to score again and the other half of the team tries to defend very deeply and that is not how it works.
“We have to find a way to have a set, to have the idea where we want to go, what we want to do. The coach is very clear to what he wants, but we have to do everything, everyone must do it.
