Exit Poll 2024 projects Modi hat-trick – BJP-NDA could win 355-370 seats, says News18 survey

Prime Minister Narendra Modi looks set to secure a historic third consecutive term, according to the News18 Poll Hub on Saturday evening (June 1).

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), could return to power with 355-370 seats, an even bigger mandate than the overwhelming majority secured by the coalition in 2019, according to the post survey. -electoral.

The Indian National Congress (INC), leading the Indian National Alliance for Inclusive Development (INDIA), is expected to get between 125 and 140 seats, according to the survey.

The BJP alone could win 305 and 315 seats, out of the total of 355-370 predicted for the NDA. The Congress Party’s tally may improve to 62-72 seats. The other political parties are expected to obtain between 42 and 52 seats.

Projections indicate that the BJP’s vote share is expected to rise to 40%, contributing to the NDA’s overall pie of 47%.

Meanwhile, the INC or Congress is expected to achieve a vote share of 20%, while the INDIA bloc is expected to achieve a vote share of 33%. The other parties should obtain 20% of the votes.

If these projections hold true, a third consecutive term for Modi would cement his legacy as one of India’s most influential leaders, placing him alongside stalwarts like Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi.

The News18 Poll Hub exit poll covered 95,000 voters across 518 Lok Sabha seats in 21 states. The remaining 25 seats in the North East region are based on projections.

Earlier in March this year, News18 mega opinion poll results predicted that the BJP-led NDA would win 411 Lok Sabha seats, well above Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s target of 400. was set for the ruling alliance with the slogan “Abki baar 400 paar”. “NDA’s vote share is expected to be 48% in the next general elections, according to the opinion poll.

The last time a party in the country won more than 400 seats was in 1984, when the Congress Party won 411 of the 542 seats at stake.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP-led NDA won 353 seats with 45% vote share, while the BJP won 303 seats on its own with over 37% vote share, the highest for a political party since the 1989 general elections. The Congress Party won 52 seats and a vote share of 19.49%.
