A person who was tested positive for measles visited several companies from County Collin at the beginning of the month.
County of Collin, Texas – County of Collin Health services announced that a person who was in the county from 19 to 22 May and visited several companies was tested positive for measles.
According to a press release from the Department, the person visited the following locations in the County of Collin:
- Fitness 24 Hours1601 N. Hardin Blvd., McKinney
- May 29 between 4:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.
- May 21 between 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
- Chancre and restaurant8450 SH 121, McKinney
- May 19 between 6.30 p.m. and 11 p.m.
- Cubana grille4051 S. Custer Road, Suite 1160, McKinney
- May 20 between 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
- Market Street6100 Eldorado Parkway, McKinney
- May 22 between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Collin County Health Care Services says they work in close collaboration with the Texas Department of State Health Services to monitor the exhibition.
“Measles is a very contagious disease that can be transmitted from one person to another in the air or contaminated surfaces,” said health services. “Measles can stay in the air up to two hours after an infected person has left the area. Measles can cause serious health complications.”
Anyone who has visited the locations listed during specific dates and hours should be watched for the symptoms of measles, said health services, in particular:
- Fever
- Dry cough
- Flowing nose
- Sore throat
- Fiery eyes
- Koplik spots: small white spots with bluish white centers located inside the mouth
- A rash composed of large flat stains
If you are developing symptoms, health services have said you should stay at home and avoid contacts with others, contact your health care provider and call before visiting a clinic or a hospital to avoid exposure.
