MultiVersus has only been out for a few days, but many players are already starting to get a good feel for things. We recently saw the release of MultiVersus tier lists by VoiD and Nakat (who is also now involved in the MultiVersus development process).
A few days ago, Liquid|Hungrybox held an invitational exhibition tournament for MultiVersus. Aside from pride and bragging rights, nothing was at stake, but the players still gave their best. MirrorMan was among the players invited to the event and was one of the favorites to win the set, although he ultimately took second place with his Bugs Bunny.
Needless to say, MirrorMan seems to have a solid understanding of MultiVersus based on the games shown at this event. He recently released his own tier list for the game.
Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Steven Universe, and Iron Giant have been called the best characters in the game. When asked why Iron Giant is considered so strong, MirrorMan simply responded with a clip that features a touch of death with Iron Giant.

Jason Voorhees and Velma would currently be the weakest characters in MultiVersus. It appears that Velma has been hit with some heavy nerfs since her dominance during the Open Beta period.
