Kolkata: “There will be a ‘khela’ in West Bengal in December,” said BJP MP Agnimitra Paul, saying more than 30 MPs from Trinamool Congress (TMC) led by Mamata Banerjee are in contact with her party.

Talk to First post, Agnimitra Paul said: “There are about 30 TMC MPs in contact with our party member Mithun Chakraborty. Top BJP leaders especially LoP Suvendu Adhikari will respond to this request.

She said the TMC government in West Bengal will not continue long after December. “Their existence is at stake,” added Paul, BJP MP Asansol.

For the uninitiated, BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty in July this year claimed that 38 TMC MPs were in touch with his party in West Bengal.

“Do you want to hear the latest news? At the moment, 38 TMC MPs have a very good relationship with us, 21 of whom are in direct contact with us,” Chakraborty told a press conference in Kolkata.

Why do 30 TMC MPs want to switch to BJP?

According to Agnimitra Paul, there have been financial irregularities in the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government in West Bengal.

She added that half of the leaders of Mamata Banejree are accused of fraud and the other half are in prison for alleged corruption.

The West Bengal BJP MP further alleged that the ruling government of West Bengal has no money to pay its employees.

“TMC Steals Money From Central Government Project”

Paul further alleged that TMC stole money from the central government project. She further said that the BJP wants the CBI to interview Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee with her ministers as Head of State.

“She needs to take responsibility and answer the question of how ordinary people’s money was stolen like this. She must answer for all the corruption,” Paul added.

BJP and TMC at odds

The TMC and the ruling BJP in West Bengal have been at odds with each other recently over President Draupadi Murmu.

Agnimitra Paul on Monday tweeted a photo where she was seen sporting the image of President Murmu on her forehead. This was apparently referring to the ongoing high-octane political drama over West Bengal minister Akhil Giri’s remarks on the president, which drew heavy criticism from the BJP.

On Monday, BJP MPs in West Bengal staged an assembly strike, demanding Giri’s immediate resignation from Mamata Banerjee’s cabinet. They even demanded his disqualification from the House for his remarks about the president.

What did TMC’s Akhil Giri say against President Murmu?

In a video that went viral recently, Minister of State for Reformatory Akhil Giri commented on President Draupadi Murmu’s looks.

The video caused massive outrage within the BJP. The head of the party’s information and technology cell, Amit Malviya, tweeted the clip, calling Mamata Banerjee “anti-tribal”.

Later, Mamata Banerjee apologized for Giri’s remarks. She said: “Akhil Giri made a mistake. I condemn his words and apologize on behalf of my party. My party has already apologized for this. I have a high regard for the president. We have warned our MP and if this happens in the future, the party will take action.”
