The former ESPN personalities had strong reactions at the trial of $ 50 million in bombs filed on Sunday against Shannon Sharpe, who was accused of rape by a “Jane Doe”.
Sage Steele, a former anchor “sportscenter” which left the network two years ago after a legal battle on the company’s vaccination policy of the company, said on Tuesday that there was “a long list of examples where ESPN and Disney considered the preservative points of view than the questionable nature”.
Steele’s message came in response to a message from an X user who said: “ESPN did not re-earn contracts to women with conservative opinions or silenced them while Shannon has had multiple questionable actions involving women. The simple fact of putting this there. ”
Ashley Brewer-Kaminsky, who was dismissed from his anchor work “Sportscenter” in June 2023, also sounded.
“Never forget when I was chewed by my boss for publishing a photo of a republican congress fighter and a UFC fighter on my Instagram history during the McGregor fight. Lol,” she replied to the Post X of Steele.
The former colleagues continued to share more experiences when they “violated the rules” in ESPN during the COVVI-19 pandemic.
“And @ashbrewkaminsky Remember when we were chewed for breaking the coated rules while standing too close to each other and by publishing this photo?” Steele wrote, including an image of the pair posing together on the “sportscenter” set.
Kaminsky replied: “But sitting side by side at the office live on television was quite well !!!”
Steele left ESPN in August 2023 when the two parties settled a legal action which she filed which stems from her elaboration in October 2021 for comments made on the COVVI-19 vaccine policy of the company.
“I decided to leave so that I can exercise my first amendment rights more freely,” said Steele, who has been working at ESPN since 2007.
In February, Steele was appointed recipient of the “New Media” headquarters at a press conference at the White House.
Kaminsky and the former NBA player Frank Kaminsky, currently playing abroad, are waiting for their first child.
Following the news from the trial, Sharpe remained on ESPN’s “first take” on Mondays and Tuesdays, as well as his podcasts “Nightcap” and “Club Shay Shay”.
ESPN has not yet discussed the question publicly.
Stephen A. Smith said that he had received authorization to make a statement from the ESPN co -president and Disney, Jimmy Pitaro, who clearly said that the company was collecting facts and takes the issue very seriously.
“I recruited Shannon … But I am not the boss,” said Smith Tuesday in his eponymous YouTube program, referring when Sharpe left Fox for ESPN in June 2023. “These are other people. Seriously and we examine this very, very closely and once we have gathered as many facts as possible, we will leave from there.
“And that’s all he said. And I can mention his name because I received his permission to say that. I don’t know what it means.”
Smith added that he had spoken with Sharpe of the question.
“(Sharpe) was categorical by declaring that his innocence is a Shakedown,” said Smith, referring to Sharpe’s comments on the issue in an Instagram video on Tuesday.
Sharpe, who denied the allegations through his lawyer in a statement on Monday, doubled his denial and called him a “shakedown”.
In his complaint, “Jane Doe” alleys that Sharpe has committed an assault, sexual assault, a battery, a sexual battery and engaged in the intentional infliction of emotional distress during a “rocky relationship” which lasted almost two years.
The applicant, who is more than 30 years younger than him, alleges that Sharpe brutally assaulted him sexually several times at the end of 2024 and at the beginning of 2025.
At a virtual press conference on Tuesday, Sharpe lawyer Lanny J. Davis said that her client was in the middle of mediation with the woman who accused her of rape, when she filed a civil complaint against him “without warning”, demanding $ 50 million.
Davis said that Sharpe was willing to pay the applicant “at least 10 million dollars” in a regulation, and that the applicant “took advantage” of the “very lucrative” contract of the former NFL star for his podcast “Club Shay Shay” which was recently reported.
Sharpe was continued one day before the Front-Office Sports indicated that it should sign an agreement for its podcast “Club Shay Shay” which would exceed $ 100 million after its contract with the Podcast Network of Colin Cowherd recently expired.
