Ex-model testifying that Harvey Weinstein sexually assaulted him on the private newspaper

New York (AP) – An old fashion model testifying in Harvey Weinstein The new trial on accusations of sexual assault was faced with the position on Tuesday with a private newspaper in which she wrote on people who sexually abused her, but notably left the former Hollywood magnate by dishonorable.

Michael Cibella, lawyer for Weinstein, noted that the newspaper by Kaja Sokola Names at least two people who had sexually assaulted her. None of them, she recognized the jury in Manhattan, was Weinstein.

Instead, the producer “Pulp Fiction” is mentioned in the writings for completely different reasons. Under an entry for “Harvey W”, Sokola wrote that he “promised me help”, but “nothing came out”.

“The trauma that Harvey Weinstein inflicted on you was that he made promises he did not hold, even though you accused two other men to attack you sexually,” said Cibella.

The Polish model, now a 39 -year -old psychotherapist, has rejected characterization.

“This is your interpretation and I will leave that with you,” said Sokola for the positions of the witnesses. “Harvey made promises that he did not hold – and he assaulted me sexually.”

Earlier in the day, Sokola had argued that the newspaper, which she wrote in Polish in 2015, should not be discussed in public hearing at all.

She said that writing was part of her drug addiction treatment. One of the stages of the program, she explained, was to list all the people and the things with whom she had resentment.

“It is very inappropriate,” argued Sokola while one of the lawyers of Weinstein began to cite parts of the text in the jury. “Please don’t read that.” These are my personal belongings. I am not on trial here. ”

Judge Curtis Farber assured Sokola that he only allowed limited questions around the document. He also said that he had concerns about the complaint and authenticity of the newspaper and wondering how defense lawyers had obtained what seemed to be a private medical file.

“It could turn around a lot” for the defense, said Farber at some point, because prosecutors also strongly opposed the inclusion of the newspaper as proof in the trial. “It is the risk that they are ready to take.”

The lawyers of Weinstein, in their counter-examination of Sokola on Fridaytried to throw Sokola as a budding actor who tried to take advantage of his consensual relations with the former boss of the studio.

Cibella, to this end, asked Sokola on Tuesday on what she said to prosecutors during an interview in 2020.

He argued that the handwritten notes of a meeting prosecutor do not understand any mention of Weinstein using the strength or by tearing her clothes, because she described the incident to the jurors in her testimony.

“Is it a fact that you have never done any allegation in 2020 that Mr. Weinstein used strength?” Asked Cibella.

“It’s a lie,” said Sokola.

Cibella also questioned Sokola about his communications with Weinstein in the years that followed sexual assault sexually assault in 2006.

Among them, there were telephone messages, text messages and emails in which she tried to meet in person the co-founder of the production company Miramax or asked her for help on various opportunities in the film industry.

Sokola, who should come back to the stand on Wednesday, testified last week That Weinstein exploited his dreams of an acting career to submit it to spam advances, from days after their meeting in 2002, when she was 16 years old during a model trip to New York.

Some of these allegations go beyond the legal time for criminal accusations, but Weinstein faces a criminal sex accusation on Sokola’s assertion that he had forced oral sex in 2006.

Prosecutor Adding the load to the monument #MeToo case last year, after a court of appeal Discover the condemnation of Weinstein in 2020. The guilt verdict was linked to the allegations of two other women, who also testified or who should testify to the trial.

Weinstein, 73, pleaded not guilty and never denies having sexually assaulted anyone.

The Associated Press generally does not appoint people who allege having been sexually assaulted, but Sokola has given him permission to be identified.
