The 2025 Critics Choice Awards will go ahead despite multiple postponements due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.

The annual awards show was originally scheduled to take place on January 12, but was pushed back to January 26 after Santa Ana winds caused several fires to spread across the greater Los Angeles area. The fires destroyed businesses, schools and homes, forcing thousands to evacuate the area and leaving at least 25 people dead.

Deadline later reported that the ceremony had been postponed a second time until February, although an exact date has not yet been revealed.

Several celebrities have been affected by the fires, including Adam Brodywho earned a nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for Netflix Nobody wants that. The series earned a total of four nominations, including Best Comedy Series and Best Actress in a Comedy Series for Kristen Bell. (Brody, 45, and his wife, Leighton Meesterwould have lost their house in the fires.)

While Shogun leads the pack in TV nominations with six, Conclave And Wicked tied for the most film nominations with a total of 11, followed by Dune: part two And Emilie Pérez with 10 each.

Chelsea manager will return to host the Critics Choice Awards for a third consecutive year. “Coming back for the third year to host the Critics Choice Awards was made even better knowing that they will now be broadcast on E!,” Handler, whose talk show Chelsea lately previously aired on the network, said in an October 2024 release, according to Variety. “I feel like I’m going back to my homeland.”

Similar to the Oscars – which are based on votes from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science – the Critics Choice Awards are voted on by their own governing body, the Critics Choice Association (CCA). While the Golden Globes are also voted on by entertainment journalists, the CCA is specific to the Critics Choice Awards.
