Everton star Beto stretchered off and given oxygen after sickening collision with Morgan Gibbs-White

Everton striker Beto had to be taken away on a stretcher after he and Morgan Gibbs-White suffered a violent clash of heads.

The Toffees striker and Nottingham Forest midfielder both went to challenge for the ball in the air during second-half stoppage time.

Both players hit the turf and players on either side were quick to call for medical attention, with Beto remaining motionless and worrying.

Gibbs-White was soon able to sit down and then get up again, but his Everton counterpart received lengthy treatment.

His teammates were visibly worried at Goodison Park and the striker was eventually taken off the field on a stretcher and given oxygen.

As fans applauded, Beto was able to give a thumbs up to show fans that he was okay.

Taking X after the match, Everton said: “We can confirm that Beto lost consciousness and was taken to the hospital as a precaution. We’re all with you, big guy.”

Sean Dyche later told Sky Sports the striker’s early signs were “very good”.

Beto’s boost will come as a relief to fans after the worrying scenes which took place during a crucial 2-0 win for Everton.

Idrissa Gueye and Dwight McNeil both found the target from distance as the Toffees beat their relegation rivals.

Four points now separate the two teams, with Everton in 16th and a game in hand against 17th-placed Forest.

Forest released a stunning statement on social media after the match to condemn him from refereeing, accusing the PGMOL of selecting a Luton Town fan to work on VAR.

They also said they should have been given three penalties and that the club would “consider their options”.
