Evacuations Underway Due to Rapidly Spreading Fire in El Dorado County

Payer Fire: Evacuations underway as fire spreads rapidly in El Dorado County

HERE AT HOME, WE’RE JUST FACING MORE HEAT. IN FACT, RIGHT NOW, WE’RE AT 68 DEGREES, SO IT’S NOT A BAD TIME TO GO RUNNING, TO RIDE A BIKE, TO WALK THE DOG, WHATEVER YOU NEED TO DO OUTSIDE. YOU WANT TO TRY TO DO IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THE WINDS ARE BLOWING FROM THE WEST-SOUTHWEST RIGHT NOW AT ABOUT THREE MILES AN HOUR. BUT AS WE GO THROUGHOUT THE AFTERNOON, LOOK AT 94 OVER 11 AT 1:00 P.M., 103 AT 3:00 P.M., 110 DEGREES, LIKE I SAID, RECORD BREAKING HEAT FOR TODAY. AND UNFORTUNATELY, THAT HEAT IS GOING TO CONTINUE WITH US, NOT JUST TODAY BUT THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND AND INTO THE EARLY PART OF NEXT WEEK. NOW AS WE GET TOWARDS THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK WE MIGHT SEE SOME BREAKS, THIS HEAT MIGHT DOWN A LITTLE LOWER THAN 90 TEMPS, AND AS WE GO INTO NEXT WEEKEND IT’S GOING TO BE A LITTLE COOLER. IT LOOKS LIKE WE MIGHT SEE DOUBLE DIGIT HIGHS NEXT WEEKEND. AND I’M SURE EVERYONE’S GOING TO JOIN IN ON THAT. SO SOME WAYS FOR YOU TO BEAT THE HEAT IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE LOCAL STREAMS. THE NORTH FORK OF THE AMERICAN RIVER AT THE AUBURN DAM. RIGHT NOW IT’S 66 DEGREES. THE WATER HAS REALLY WARMED UP THE LAST TWO WEEKS. THE SACRAMENTO RIVER IS AT 72. LAKE FREEPORT FOLSOM IN BROWNS RAVINE IS AT 76. SO IT’S VERY COMFORTABLE. LIKE I SAID, YOUR COMMUNITY POOLS ARE USUALLY IN THE 70S TO 80S AND LAKE TAHOE TAHOE CITY IS AT 66. REMEMBER WHEN THIS HEAT WAVE STARTED, THE LAKE TEMPERATURE WAS ONLY ABOUT 59. NOW AS WE LOOK AT THE SEVEN DAY FORECAST, 93 TODAY IN THE TRUCKEE AND LAKE TAHOE AREA. YEAH, THAT’S REALLY HOT. TEMPERATURES ARE IN THE 90S. THROUGH WEDNESDAY. BEFORE WE START TO GO BACK INTO THE 80S FOR THE FOOTHILLS TODAY, 106 MORE OF THE SAME TOMORROW. SO AGAIN STAY HYDRATED. DRINK LOTS OF WATER. IT’S NOT ONE OF THOSE THINGS THAT YOU ACCLIMATIZE YOUR BODY TO. IN FACT, THEY WEAR OUT OVER TIME IN THESE HEAT WAVES. NOW FOR SACRAMENTO TODAY WE ARE EXPECTING A HIGH OF 111. AGAIN THAT SHOULD BEAT THE RECORD OF 105. WHICH WAS SET IN 1989. WE’VE HAD THAT RECORD FOR A WHILE. TOMORROW 106, 102, 101 FOR MONDAY AND TUESDAY. THAT’S NOT GOING TO BE SO BAD, IS IT? AND THEN LIKE I SAID, HIGHS IN THE HIGH 90’S ARE EXPECTED FOR THE MIDDLE AND LATE OF NEXT WEEK. THAT’S CERTAINLY GOING TO BE BETTER THAN WHAT WE’VE HAD. IT’S CRAZY WEATHER IN THE BAY AREA. I’M SORT OF. HOW TO ESCAPE THE HEAT. AND THEN I WENT BACK TO THIS THICK HEAT. WOW. IT’S
