European stocks opened the week with gains. Italy and Germany are leading the way.

Major European indices close with gains to begin the new trading week. German and Italian indices led the way:

  • UK FTSE 100 cents, closed for holidays
  • Spanish ibex, +0.58%
  • Italian FTSE MIB, +1.06%

on the European debt market, 10-year yields are lower:

  • German, 2.47%, -2.4 basis points
  • France 2.977%, -2.0 basis points
  • Spain 3.25%, -0.2 basis points
  • Italy 3.802%, -0.1 basis point.

As European traders head for the exit, broader US stock indices are trading towards/near session highs:

  • The Dow Industrial Average is up 56.02.00.15 percent at 38,733
  • The S&P index is up 31 points or 0.62% or 5158.80
  • The NASDAQ index is up 122.00.75 percent at 16277.47
