Disney is about to launch the Autonomous Streaming Service of ESPN – and apparently it can be called “ESPN”, according to a CNBC report. Sources indicate to CNBC that the president of ESPN, Jimmy Pitaro, has chosen the name “to simplify what has become a world of crowded streaming, filled with different media products which can be grouped with other services at different prices.”
The coming service should cost $ 25 to $ 30 per month. It will offer access to a full range of live sports and Paris functionalities that you cannot find in the more existing ESPN service.
As CNBC noted, Disney will also rethin the ESPN application to become a “gateway” from the streaming service. Disney will also allow people who are already paying for ESPN through their television provider to “authenticate in the new application”. The company plans to launch the Autonomous ESPN application this fall, which it aims to provide “but the consumer wants it, wherever the consumer wishes”.
Disney CEO Bob Iger said in a call for results on Wednesday that the company will officially announce the name and prices of the service next week.
