Erling Haaland has warned Manchester City to forget Arsenal’s title challenge or risk driving themselves “crazy” as they seek a fourth consecutive Premier League crown.

The Norwegian scored the decisive second-half goal shortly after coming on and although City did not play particularly well, they will win the title if they win their remaining four games.

As his father Alfie looked on from the directors’ box, Haaland scored his 21st league goal of the season to once again move to the top of the scoring charts.

“I think the most important thing is not to think, especially in these moments,” Haaland said. “It’s about taking it day by day. Honestly, if you think too much you will go crazy in your head, so relax now, enjoy it and focus on the next one.

City were without Phil Foden and Ruben Dias due to illness, while John Stones and Haaland were only on the bench.

Having played Brighton just three days earlier, Pep Guardiola’s side looked short of energy and the Catalan believes his players have no margin for error when racing, with Arsenal a point ahead .

He said: “I don’t think Arsenal will drop points again. It’s like what happened in the past with Liverpool.

“We have four games left and it’s like climbing a big mountain. If we draw, we won’t win the championship. The performance here wasn’t particularly good.

Forest remain just one point above the relegation zone and two of their final three games come against Sheffield United – who have already been relegated – and 19th-placed Burnley.

The club expects to know this week whether its appeal against the four-point deduction it received for breaching Premier League spending rules has been successful.

Boss Nuno Espirito Santo said: “I hope we find out soon and can face reality. It will make a big difference, not just for us but for the entire league.
