Erling Haaland was substituted at half-time, while Riyad Mahrez’s missed penalty made for a frustrating evening for Manchester City.
The 22-year-old striker endured a tough 45 minutes against his former club Borussia Dortmund with the game ending 0-0 at Signal Iduna Park.
Haaland made way for Bernardo Silva at half-time, and jokes were made about him for a scoreless 92 minutes.
He had no shots on target, had just 13 touches and produced just seven assists before hanging on the break.
But manager Pep Guardiola suggested it was more of a precaution as he had a slight fever before the game.
Haaland scored twice in the 3-1 win over Brighton at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday in the Premier League, to take his tally for the season to 22 in just 15 games.
Mahrez, however, was lucky enough to be the hero and put his side ahead 1-0, only to have his penalty saved by goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.
The Algerian international shot to the right of the goalkeepers only for the 24-year-old keeper to produce a superb save to keep him away.

His miss is now his third penalty which he failed to convert in 2022.
Guardiola’s reaction said it all, with the Catalan manager putting his head in his hands.
He remained frustrated and animated throughout as City failed to convert to Germany.
In fact, that makes 25 missed penalties under Guardiola at City, while for Mahrez, his own record reads:
Penalties taken: 32
It’s something the manager will look into, who admitted his team lacked too much.
