Erling Haaland likened Homer Simpson as audio of celebrations picked up by pitchside mics during Man City win

Erling Haaland appeared to celebrate with his best Homer Simpson impression after sealing Man City’s victory over Nottingham Forest.

The Norwegian superstar came off the bench at the City Ground to make it 2-0 against City and secure three crucial points.

Josko Gvardiol’s first-half header gave Pep Guardiola’s side the lead before Haaland brilliantly added another.

He marked his return to action after missing the last two games with a goal and showed his joy with his celebration.

As he walked away, he ran behind the goal and found a microphone on the pitch used for television broadcasts.

Haaland leaned down to catch it, shouting “Woo-Hoo” in a high-pitched voice before being surrounded by his teammates.

This led fans to point out that his scream sounded exactly like that of Homer Simpson, known for his signature high-pitched scream.

Instantly, social media was filled with comparisons with eerie similarity.

A fan posted on X: “Did Haaland just go ‘woohoo!’ of Homer Simpson? into the microphone?”

Another wrote: “Haaland hits a perfect Homer Simpson ‘Woo-hoo’ after scoring. What can’t he do?”

Haaland could be a Simpsons fan and did this intentionally, but it’s likely it was just a very strange coincidence.

He’ll certainly laugh about it after the game after he finishes celebrating with the rest of the Man City team after a crucial win.

City have now moved back to just one point behind league leaders Arsenal with a game in hand after beating Nottingham Forest.

The Gunners were four points clear earlier on Sunday after beating bitter rivals Tottenham 3-2 in the north London derby.

Haaland was happy to get the job done and return to the field after a short period of absence.

“It’s an important win no matter how we do it, and it’s good to be back,” he told Sky Sports.

“We knew it was going to be a fight, and the pitch wasn’t the easiest to play on but we can’t complain.

“It’s about winning and that’s exactly what we did.”
