Erling Haaland scored the Manchester City season “horrible”, “boring” and “not fun” – but insisted that the prospect of silverware this weekend proves that they remain a giant.
City is entering the FA Cup final with Crystal Palace knowing that qualification in the Champions League is still not confirmed after last Saturday’s surprise draw in Southampton.
Haaland admitted that hunger had disappeared in the Pep Guardiola team when they were trying to save something from the year.
“This season has been difficult,” said Haaland. “It’s not nice to lose as many games. It’s boring and not fun. This is why we have to finish.
“We have the FA Cup final to play and in a horrible season, we still managed to do it, which says everything.
“It was not good enough. We were not there to fight in the Premier League or in the Champions League and it is not good enough for a club like City. You should be there and you should compete.
Erling Haaland was unleashed with his Manchester City teammates for their “horrible” season

The side of Pep Guardiola attracted 0-0 to the lower club in Southampton and is in the race for the top five

Haaland scored 21 goals in the league despite the campaign qualification as “horrible” and “boring”
“I don’t know the answers to be honest, but sometimes you just have to run. You have to run more. We have not run enough this season.
“You have to run more, you have to work better, you have to be more stable in a team. You have to be more, find the mind.
He added: “Each of us was not good enough and we were not at our best, so when you are not at your best, you will not win games in this country because it is so difficult.”
Haaland returned to an ankle injury to St Mary’s and claims to have an unanswered energy before the last three games of an exhausting season before the Club World Cup.
The 24 -year -old thinks that winning his second FA Cup would go in a way to save the season, but is not sure that his teammates feel the same.
“For me, it would help,” he added. “That’s what I want. That’s why I’m here. It would therefore help, certainly. But again, the standards that these guys have established, maybe that does not mean anything because they have put the standard so high. But for me, it would certainly help.
“When you have won four league titles in a row, if you don’t win five, it will not be a successful season.
“The bar is so high that this season is a catastrophic season that says everything. Next season, we have to find something in our stomach to attack the season.
