As promised, Epic Games has today submitted Fortnite to the American App Store, and if it is approved by Apple, it will mark the first time that the Fortnite application has been available in the United States since 2020.
Fortnite will include currency purchase options in the application on the web rather than via integrated purchase, which made it possible to start the game to start. This time, however, Apple received the order to allow all developers, including epic games, to bring customers to buy options available outside the App store.
The game developer of game games with American games has been banned since the Battle of Apple VS epic games in 2020, the epic games therefore use the developer account he established in Sweden to submit Fortnite to the App store. The GITS Games created a Swedish account of the App store last year in order to create a market for epic game applications in the European Union, as allowed by the law on digital markets.
Tim Sweeney, CEO of Games from Games, said that the company had “conversed” with Apple about the plan, and that Apple is aware that epic games stupidly submits using the game of Games games that it established for the EU. Sweeney has not confirmed if Apple said it is not going well, and it is not clear if Apple will approve the submission of the App store. In an interview this week, Sweeney said he would be “very surprised” if Apple “decided to brave the geopolitical storm to block a major iOS application.”
When epic Games made a new developer account in the EU, Apple closed it due to the model of unreliable behavior EPIC. EPIC GAMES complained to the EU regulators, and regulators have in turn started to question Apple. At this stage, Apple has decided to reintegrate the account after the exhausted games are committed to following the alternative rules of the market.
During the legal battle of Apple vs epic games, Apple was not sentenced to Fortnite to return to the App store, and the case in fact suggested that Apple was well in the right to end the account of Epic and without obligation to authorize Fortnite in the app store at all.
It is possible that Apple will not allow epic games to use its European developer account to subject Fortnite since the American account is still prohibited, but Apple may not want more anger, the judge supervising the case. Apple has also already approved external purchase links in Spotify, Kindle, Patreon and other applications.
Currently, Apple should allow developers to add links and buttons to their applications that run customers to digital purchase options available outside the App store, and more importantly, Apple is not authorized to collect a commission on these purchases.
Apple has filed an emergency request to the ninth Circuit Court of Ap appeals to suspend the “extraordinary” decision which, according to her, obliges to abandon “the main aspects of its commercial operations”. Apple specifically asked the Court of Appeal to allow it to invoice costs for purchases made using external links while the call process takes place, the company also requiring control of how these links are displayed.
Apple asked the Court of Appeal to make a decision by May 28, but until Apple heard, the App store changes are in place.
