England’s Euro 2024 schedule: Road to glory, schedule and kick-off times with another near miss predicted

England are among the favorites for glory at Euro 2024 – but will they finally end their long wait for major tournament silverware?

The Three Lions started their campaign with a 1-0 victory in their opening match against Serbia thanks to Jude Bellingham’s header.

However, Gareth Southgate’s young side then faced Denmark but were held to a 1-1 draw in Frankfurt.

They now face Slovenia in their final Group C match, live on talkSPORT, as they look to secure top spot.

But one more bad result, and they could slip to second or even third place, making for a very difficult knockout phase.

Here are the details of England’s fixtures – and potential fixtures – in full, along with predicted results…

When will England’s Group C matches at Euro 2024 take place?

Sunday June 16

  • Day 1: Serbia 0-1 England

Thursday June 20

  • Day 2: Denmark 1-1 England

Tuesday June 25

  • Third day: England – Slovenia (8 p.m.) – RheinEnergieStadion, Cologne

Who and when will England play if they finish top of Group C?

Win Group C and England will face one of the best third-placed teams in Group D, E or F.

Round of 16: Sunday June 30 – England against team ranked third in Group D, E or F

Quarter-finals: Saturday July 6 – England vs runner-up in Group A (Germany/Hungary/Scotland/Switzerland) or runner-up in Group B (Albania/Croatia/Italy/Spain)

Semi-finals: Wednesday July 10 – England vs Winner of the third quarter-final (France/Belgium)

Final: Sunday July 14 – England vs Winner of the first semi-final (Germany, Spain/Portugal)

Who and when will England play if they finish second in Group C?

If England were not top of the group and second, a draw against Germany could well top the round of 16.

From there, Spain, Italy or Croatia would then advance to the quarter-finals before Portugal or the Netherlands in the semi-finals.

Round of 16: Saturday June 29 – England vs Group A Winner (Germany/Scotland/Hungary)

Quarter-finals: Friday July 5 – England vs Winner of the third round of 16 (Croatia/Italy/Spain)

Semi-finals: Tuesday July 9 – England vs Winner of the second quarter-final (Portugal/Netherlands)

Final: Sunday July 14 – England vs Winner of the second semi-final (France/Belgium)

Predicting England’s route to Euro 2024 glory

England fans are notorious for getting carried away, which is why the most objective method of predicting the fate of the Three Lions is based on the latest FIFA World Rankings.

With Southgate’s men currently ranked fourth in the world, they should have no difficulty overtaking Serbia (33rd), Denmark (21st) and Slovenia (57th) to top Group C.

Thereafter it gets complicated, but essentially one of the third-placed teams from Groups D, E or F would be England’s first knockout round opponent.

Based on this logic, England would face 25th-ranked Austria in the round of 16, after their third place in Group D qualifies them for the knockout stages.

This then takes us to the quarter-finals where England would face a familiar foe in Italy in a repeat of the Euro 2020 final.

Here again, the rankings are on England’s side, with Italy four places lower in the pecking order, ninth.

We then move on to the formidable semi-finals where the worst happens: England meets France, world number two, and is eliminated on the Blues’ path to another international victory in the final against the Netherlands (7th).

And there you have it, another magnificent failure for England.

And while there’s no shame in losing in the semi-final to the eventual winners, that’s unlikely to appease fans who apparently won’t accept anything less than Southgate guiding Kane and co. to the trophy.

If England finish third in their group, their schedule will not be decided until after the group stage has been settled.
