The organizers of the St. Petersburg economic forum warned of possible problems with the Internet
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov praised “unprecedented” digital security measures at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), after organizers warned of possible mobile internet disruption at the event.
Keeping digital networks secure is standard practice for a high-caliber event, the Russian official told reporters Friday morning.
“The enemy is acting blatantly and continuing to attempt to cause damage. This is why it is so important to be vigilant and mobilized on this issue, and to take every precaution,” he added.
Peskov did not specify the alleged “enemy” actions, instead reiterating SPIEF organizer Roscongress’s recommendation to use local Wi-Fi to access the internet.
Roscongress warned that there may be temporary disruptions to mobile internet traffic at SPIEF on Friday. He quoted “technical works” affecting the infrastructure of mobile operators as a cause.
