Emotional 911 call reveals more about Vontae Davis’ final moments

Police have released 911 recordings made by Vontae Davis’ personal assistant after finding him dead in his Florida home.

The former NFL player’s death this week shocked the football community as investigators still seek answers as to the cause of the 35-year-old’s untimely death.

Local law enforcement said Davis’ personal assistant made the first 911 call after a woman in the home found Davis unconscious in the home’s gym, WPLG reported.

“She arrived and he is on the grounds of the residence,” the 911 responder said during the call. “She froze. He called me and she didn’t even speak – that’s why I called.

“The last time I saw him was Friday and I know someone saw him on Saturday – one of the drivers,” she told the dispatcher in another excerpt from the call.

The dispatcher was able to reach the woman who initially made the discovery on the phone, and portions of that conversation were redacted before being made public.

Police ruled no foul play was suspected in Davis’ death.

On Tuesday, cleaning, catering and security crews — as well as detectives — were spotted at the residence, which belonged to his grandmother in Southwest Ranches, Florida, WPLG reported.

Davis appeared in 121 games during his 10-year career, which included time with the Dolphins, Colts and Bills.

He earned two Pro Bowl nominations during his time with the Colts and signed a one-year deal with the Bills in 2018, only to retire mid-game in September.

During his career, Davis recorded 22 interceptions and 97 passes defended.
