Emma Raducanu was targeted by a man showing a “ fixing behavior ” in the Dubai open match which left her in tears, confirms WTA – three years after the stalker of the former open champion received an order prohibition

The WTA published a declaration confirming that Emma Raducanu was targeted by a man “ who exposed a fixed behavior ” in his second round match against Karolina Muchova to the Dubai Open in an incident which left in tears.

The former British no1 became agitated in the first set of his match on Tuesday evening, and 2-0 against Muchova, was seen by shouting and wiping his face with a towel during the break in the game.

In painful scenes, Raducanu spoke with the referee and then seemed to hide behind the referee’s chair, being later comforted by his opponent.

After a brief break, the former champion of the United States returned the court and resumed the match, lost in two sets at the head of 14, 7-6 (6-8), 6-4.

But in a worrying declaration, the WTA shared that the incident had been launched by a man looking from the stands.

“On Monday, February 17, Emma Raducanu was approached in a public zone by a man who showed fixed behavior,” said the declaration, confirming the presence of man during the Raducanu victory in the first round against Maria Sakkari.

“This same individual was identified in the first lines in the Emma match on Tuesday at the Dubai Duty Free tennis championships and was then ejected. It will be prohibited from all WTA events pending threats assessment.

“Players safety is our top priority, and tournaments are informed of best safety practices for international sporting events.

“The WTA is actively working with Emma and her team to ensure her well-being and provide any necessary support. We remain determined to collaborate with tournaments and their security teams worldwide to maintain a safe environment for all players.

In 2022, Raducanu saw a five -year ban prescription made to Amrit Magar, 35, who visited his home three times as a result of his US Open Historic 2021 race.

The former delivery driver of Amazon Magar strolled outside, left gifts and unwanted cards and stole property from the porch, and was then arrested after his father Ian was alerted to his presence by the camera bell of their family home.

Magar also left notes for the 19 -year -old man, saying that he had traveled 23 miles to his house and that she “deserved love”.

Raducanu told this court that Magar’s presence left her dangerous in his own house and “looking constantly over his shoulder” in the middle of the test.

“Since it all happened, I felt frightened. I feel very worried if I go out, especially if I am alone ”, shared Raducanu in a declaration prepared at the time.

“Because of this, I have the impression that my freedom was removed to me. I constantly look over my shoulder. I feel on the edge and I fear that it will not happen again. I don’t feel safe in my own house, that’s where I should feel the safest.

In addition to the prohibition order, Magar was sentenced to an 18-month community order, including 200 hours of unpaid work and an eight-week curfew between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. monitoring by an electronic label.

But a year later, the 35 -year -old tried to revoke his community order for medical reasons.

Raducanu’s defeat in the second round against Muchova came while the player wanted to build a significant race during the swing in the Middle East after two disappointing outings in the first round.
