Emily Ratajkowski poses in her new swimsuit on the streets of New York

Emily Ratajkowski chose an unusual place to promote her new swimsuits.

In a series of photos published on Instagram, the model can be seen posing in a red, orange and white thong swimsuit set, not on the beach or poolside, but on the streets of New York’s West Village. The swimsuit, from her beachwear line Inamorata, featured a color block print with sun and logo graphics. Despite the cloudy weather behind her, Ratajkowski accessorized only with a pair of white socks, red Vans sneakers and an iced coffee. “KINI TOWN!” All @inamoratawoman news is live now,” she captioned the post.

The new swimsuit marks Inamorata’s first launch since last August. While the model founded the brand in 2017, capitalizing on the popularity of her own swimsuit photos, the brand has remained silent on social media since its last post in November, when Inamorata promoted a Black Friday sale which seems to have disappointed customers.

In an article from The cup, customers complained of months-long shipping and manufacturing delays, and said Inamorata was offering refunds to “anyone who didn’t want to wait.” The swimwear brand has also since disabled comments on all of its Instagram posts, except for the latest ones from this week.

And while Inamorata remained silent on social media, the brand website stayed online to fulfill orders for its swimsuits, which range in price from $75 to $135 per piece. Up to the latest design, now available to purchase for $150, Ratajkowski has also modeled for several swimsuit campaigns other than her own in recent months, including for Victoria’s Secret, Tory Burch and Good American.

Modeling may be her career, but the campaigns raise questions about why Ratajkowski seems to promote other swimsuit lines while neglecting her own. That said, Inamorata appears to be back in business with its new swimwear, but only time will tell if the brand can regain the trust of its customers.
