In recent weeks, the star of “Emilia Pérez”, Karla Sofía Gascón, has gone from the Oscar of the Academy to the Pariah industry after reactions on publications on renovated social networks.
In the middle of the controversy, the film Netflix now won a first prize at the Spanish equivalent of the Oscars on Saturday, winning the best European film.
Although Gascón did not attend the ceremony, two representatives of the Spanish distributors of the film accepted the prize on stage and gave the star a cry.
As a representative noted, the Spanish language drama received the most nominations to this year’s Oscars with 13 headlongs, including the best film and a sign of the best actress for Gascón.
“Faced with hatred and ridiculous, more cinema and more culture,” said the couple.
The vote for the appointments of Goya closed on January 24, almost a week before a certain number of offensive positions on X which seemed to have been carried out by Gascón begins to become viral.
The messages were highlighted by Canadian journalist Sarah Hagi, who shared screenshots on X. Business Insider could not check all screenshots before the deletion of Gascón’s account, but according to several reports, the articles contained Islamophobic and racist content.
Since then, the director of “Emilia Perez”, Jacques Audiard, and the Costar Zoe Saldaña – who has been the best actress of Oscar support – has criticized her alleged positions.
Variety and The Hollywood Reporter reported that Netflix would be distant from Gascón following the controversy.
It is not yet clear if Gascón will always attend the Oscars on March 2. She is in place for the best actress against Cynthia Erivo, Mikey Madison, Demi Moore and Fernanda Torres.

In an interview with CNN in Español in early February, Gascón said that she did not intend to withdraw prices.
“I cannot move an nodal appointment because I have not committed any crime and I didn’t hurt anyone,” she said. “I am neither racist nor nothing that all these people have tried to make others believe.”
Gascón returned to social networks on February 7, displaying that she planned to remain silent for the rest of the film’s Oscars campaign.
She said that she hoped that her silence “allowed the film to be appreciated for what he is, a beautiful ode to love and difference”.
