Musk, with a net total net of 330 billion dollars in March 2025, he managed to maintain the status of the richest man in the world. The price imposed by Trump aroused criticism and concerns of economists.

The technology magnate has published a pro-free commercial video featuring economist Milton Friedman, just as Donald Trump has announced high prices on the main American business partners. Elon Musk’s call to a “zero tariff zone” with Europe clashed directly with Trump’s protectionist position, attracting strong criticism from the White House Advisor, Peter Navarro.
Peter Navarro accused Musk of prioritizing Tesla’s benefits, which attracted a mocking response from Musk. The exchange has aroused speculation on the growth of tensions between Trump and Musk, some even suggesting that musk could be excluded from influential political discussions.
Musk criticized Navarro in the midst of the pricing announcements made by President Trump who frightened the world market. But Elon Musk and Peter Navarro seem to be on a different page after the president announced reciprocal prices. While Navarro, a longtime ally of Trump and a main advisor for trade and manufacturing, supported Trump’s pricing decision; Elon suggested a “zero tariff zone”. Peter Navarro is considered to be one of President Trump’s main defenders on the radical rates he announced last week which will put significant tasks on most major American business partners. “The market will find a background. It will be soon, and from there, we will have a bull’s bun, and the DOW will reach 50,000 people during the term of Trump,” said Navarro. On Monday, Dow Jones was 38,314 before the start of trading.Read also: Warren Buffett’s decision to sit on a bunch of cash of $ 300 billion paid 500 richest bumps lost half a bill of dollars?
Elon was quick to call Peter Navarro by accepting a quote from Thomas Sowell who said: “In each catastrophe in American history, there seems to be a Harvard man in the middle of it”. It was a pothot in Navarro who has a doctorate in economics from Harvard University. “(Sic)
In an interview with Fox News, Peter Navarro responded to Elon Musk’s remarks. “Elon when he is in his Lane Doge is great, but we understand what is going on here”, adding “Elon sells cars. He simply protects his own interests,” said Navarro.
Navarro added that the Tesla de Musk supply chain should clearly take a huge blow from the tariff diet. He pointed out that even if Teslas is made in Texas factories, “they get a lot of their content from China, Mexico, Japan and Taiwan and elsewhere.”
However, he tried to minimize all beef between him and Musk. “There is no ditch here. Look, Elon, he has X, he has a big microphone. We do not bother to say what he wants. But, just, the American people must understand that we understand, what it is, and that is good,” continued Navarro, suggesting later that Musk protected his personal interests.
As indicated above, Elon Musk recently criticized Peter Navarro, a solid supporter of strict prices. Appearing on CNN after the last price announcement of the American government, Navarro defended the policy and spoke proudly of his education in Harvard.

A clip for the interview was published on X, which prompted Musk to respond by making fun of the academic history of Navarro. “A doctorate in Harvard Econ is a bad thing, not a good thing,” wrote Musk, adding that it leads to the problem “Ego / Brains >> 1.” When another user cited the economist Thomas Sowell – “in each catastrophe in American history, there is always a man from Harvard in the middle” – Musk simply replied: “Yup”.
MUSK – The richest man in the world, who is CEO of SpaceX and Tesla and the largest shareholder of the two companies – has seen his companies face reverse in recent weeks. Only Europe, Tesla sales plunged 49% in January and February compared to the same months in 2024, according to a March 25 report published by the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association.
Last month Tesla warned the US government that prices could affect electric vehicle companies when Trump’s tariff objectives impose their own levies on American products.

In a letter not signed to the US trade representative Jamieson Greer, Tesla said: “American exporters are intrinsically exposed to disproportionate impacts when other countries react to American commercial actions.”
The company added: “previous commercial actions in the United States have led to immediate reactions from targeted countries, including increased prices on electric vehicles imported into these countries.” On March 26, Trump imposed prices of 25% on imports of cars and certain automotive parts.
In response to this, Musk wrote on X: “Important to note that Tesla is not unscathed here. The price impact on Tesla is always significant. ”
Musk was careful to criticize the Trump’s price push directly, which was at the heart of the president’s economic agenda in the second term. But, he criticized the prices in the past.
“I think you have to be careful with the prices,” Musk told Podcast Titan Joe Rogan at the end of last year. “I deal with a lot of supply chain problems like the global car supply chain for Tesla is incredibly complex. So when there are sudden changes in the prices … it spoils everything. ”

“You want the prices to be predictable so that the prices can adjust their supply chain,” he added. “I think companies are more than happy to increase manufacturing in America, it’s just that you cannot do it instantly.”
The baron of billionaire technology has become a close ally of Trump and led the president’s efforts to eliminate waste and bloating through the government as part of the Ministry of Government Effectiveness (DOGE).
Musk has helped Doge as an employee of the special government, but this status should expire by the end of next month. Trump insisted that Musk “can remain as long as he wishes” in the middle of speculation that the White House plans to say goodbye once the special status expires.
