One of the richest people in the world gave a pair of checks to a million dollars to two voters from Wisconsin during a rally on Sunday, part of his efforts to swing the race of the Supreme Court of the State.
Before the event of the billionaire Elon Musk inside a Congress Center in Green Bay, a group of hundreds of hundreds gathered outside to protest against his expense of millions in the race and his work to reshape the federal agencies on behalf of President Donald Trump.
The Tesla CEO event intervened only two days before the election of the Supreme Court of the state closely looked at between the conservative judge of the county of Waukesha, Brad Schimel, and the liberal judge of the county of Dane Susan Crawford.

The race is technically non -partisan, but the Republicans support Schimel and the Democrats returning Crawford. The election will determine the ideological balance of the court, which currently has a liberal majority 4-3.
Musk and the groups related to him have already given more than $ 20 million to support Schimel. Although Crawford has its own big donors, the total amount spent by Musk and Pacs Affilié made him the greatest financial player in the race.
Addressing more than 1,000 people on Sunday, Musk said that one of the reasons for which he got involved in the race is that a new Supreme State Court could redraw the Congress Congress cards at a time when Republicans have a thin majority like a razor in the House of Representatives. He said the race could have major implications for the future of “America and the world”.
“Whatever the party controls the house to a significant degree control the country, which then directs the course of Western civilization. I have the impression that it is one of those things that do not seem that it will affect all the fate of humanity, but I think that will be the case,” Musk told the crowd.
Before Sunday, the prosecutor general of Wisconsin, Josh Kaul, continued to prevent Musk from distributing checks of $ 1 million, arguing that it was an “attempted” blatant attempt “to violate the prohibition of the state to electoral corruption. On Sunday, the Supreme Court of the State refused to block the gift, after a court of appeal had a similar decision on Saturday.
Musk gave oversized checks of a million dollars to Ekaterina Diestler and Nicholas Jacobs. According to their social media profiles, Jacobs is the president of the Republicans of Wisconsin College, while Diestler is a graphic designer.
Musk said he had decided to assign checks to “attract attention” and said that moving people to understand the importance of the race is the “biggest challenge” of the conservatives.
“We have to draw attention,” he said. “A little inevitably, when I do these things, it makes the head of the inherited media lose.”
Musk’s expenses in the race occurred while his electric vehicle company continued the State for a decision that prevented the opening of dealers in Wisconsin. This is a matter that could reach the Supreme Wisconsin Court. Musk did not approach the trial during his town hall on Sunday.
Although the event is widely designed as held in his name, Schimel did not address the crowd. He told journalists on Friday that he had “not planned to be there” and that he had discovered Musk’s visit to the press that morning.
Musk has been one of Trump’s best advisers so far in his second term. Thanks to his work, which directs the so-called Ministry of Effectiveness of the Government, or DOGE, Musk has helped to oversee the dismissal of dozens and thousands of federal workers, abrupt funding of government programs and has reiterated its objective of cutting $ 1 billion of federal expenses.
“There is a huge amount of waste and fraud in the federal government,” Musk said on Sunday.
But the NPR and New York Times’ analysis both revealed that Doge’s reported cost complaints had been inaccurate and overestimated.
Musk was joined by the American Republican Senator of Wisconsin Ron Johnson and the American transport secretary Sean Duffy, a republican who represented the 7th district of the Congress of the State from 2011 to 2019.
Duffy said the Supreme State Court race could have national implications, supervising a loss of schimel as Trump’s reprimand.
“If you present yourself all on Tuesday with your friends, we will win in the Wisconsin and send a message to the radical left: don’t play with Trump, don’t like Doge, don’t play with Elon and don’t play with Wisconsin,” Duffy on the crowd told.
Brooke Buege, resident of Green Bay, was one of the hundreds of people who showed up to protest outside the event. She said she thinks Musk is trying to buy a seat at the Supreme Court of Wisconsin.
“Having the richest man, who is not even elected, who manipulates our government and also tries to buy our state elections – it’s disgusting,” said Buege.
She also described the cuts that Doge made in the “terrifying” federal government. She said the cuts came “without worrying about side effects”.
“They don’t really care about people’s well-being,” she said.
Cathi Oreto, another resident of Green Bay, said that she did not think that Musk should be so financially involved in state policy.
“Brad Schimmel, he could be bought. But we cannot be bought, and we won’t be,” she said. “We do not sit down for the richest man in the world to come and try to make perts where he does not belong.”
Oreto says her husband is a Canadian citizen who is a legal resident. She says that their family has lived with more anxiety since the start of the second term Trump after campaigning on threats of mass deportations.
“We used to joke that he was Canadian and English-speaking, so that shouldn’t be a problem,” she said. “And all of a sudden, it could be a problem.”
Ana Wilson, member of the Democrats of the college of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, said that she had attended the rally to show that Musk cannot buy the race. She says that abortion rights are one of her main problems in this election, and fears that an abortion prohibition in 1849 can come back to the books so Schimel wins.
“I really want women, young women to choose for themselves,” said Wilson. “I do not believe that a man in power should be the one to choose.”
Dan Ammerman de Depere attended the Musk event. He said he was a “big supporter of President Trump” and thinks that Trump’s second mandate actions “put us on the right track”. This includes the involvement of Musk in the administration.
“We have to control public spending,” he said. “We simply cannot continue to spend at this rate. We have to make very large cuts, so I’m really satisfied with what (Musk is).”
Bryce Schraeder, a West Bend Gen Z voter, said he was curious to see Trump’s movement, but Musk’s support helped him push him into the Make America Great Again movement.
“Elon has somehow made more fun to be in this area because it is a little memorable,” said Schraeder.
Clint Krejcarek, a 22 -year -old campbellsport, attended the town hall with Schraeder. He says he is not worried about the 1849 abortion law, which would effectively prohibit the procedure in Wisconsin.
“People like to say:” Oh, well, Brad Schimmel would support this 1849 abortion ban “,” said Krejcarek. “They imply that that because it was from 1849 that it was in a way an archaic law and should not be followed. But it is on books – it is a law.”
The Schimel campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comments on the Musk event.
In a statement, Crawford’s campaign spokesman Derrick Honeyman said Musk was concerned about the Supreme Court of the State because “Schimel is for sale” and “has always sought its campaign donors”.
“Schimel would guarantee that Musk companies have favorable decisions,” said Honeyman, “and he will drew an extreme program that includes the prohibition of abortion, the restriction of voting rights and the stripping of health care coverage.”
