Elon Musk says that the post office and Amtrak should be privatized

Elon Musk said on Wednesday that the post office and Amtrak should be privatized, calling the state of the passenger rail in the “embarrassing” United States.

Speaking practically at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom conference, Musk said that the government “should try to privatize everything we can,” said Audio examined by Business Insider.

“I think we should privatize the post office and Amtrak, for example,” he said.

He congratulated Chinese trains, saying that railway systems in other countries are “much better” than that of America.

“If you come from another country, please do not use our national rail,” he said. “It will leave you with a very bad impression of America.”

Although Musk did not explain why the USPS should be privatized, President Donald Trump has already launched the privatization of the organization, affirming at the end of February that the secretary of trade Howard Lutnick “would examine” the organization.

Musk recognized during his remarks that the privatization of Amtrak or the USPS would probably require approval of the congress, and has not developed measures to move forward with his vision.
